Installation & Testing
The lightning conductor will be installed and tested to ensure compliance with the required resistance levels as per SABS standards
Purpose of External LPS
External Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) are designed to prevent or reduce structural damage caused by direct lightning strikes
Limitation of Liability
Due to the unpredictable nature of lightning strikes, Stop Surge does not guarantee 100% prevention of damage to electronic equipment or property
Maintenance Requirement
While regular maintenance and annual servicing can greatly reduce these risks, they cannot be completely eliminated
Resistance Deterioration
The resistance provided by the conductor may diminish over time. Annual servicing is essential to maintain the required resistance levels and ensure continued effectiveness
Force Majeure – Lightning Strikes
Lightning is a natural phenomenon and an act of God, capable of striking with immense force and voltage. As such, it cannot always be fully prevented or resisted, regardless of the protection system in place
Effectiveness of Protection
Based on experience, the installation of certified lightning conductors and surge protection devices greatly reduces the risk and limits damage to electrical and electronic equipment
Functionality of LPS
When lightning strikes and contacts an internal or external LPS, the system will function by resisting and redirecting the voltage according to its resistance capacity. In extreme cases, where the voltage exceeds the LPS capacity, the system will still work to significantly reduce the impact
